TV cable wire soldering question
by anonymous Feb 04 2008

I am soldering from a broken off TV cable wire in the back of my TV. I am soldering it to a new cable connection. I need to solder a wire from the old broken off wire to the new cable connection because there isn’t enough room to solder with the amount of wire exposed. What kind of wire do I use?

Thanks, Ken Upchurch

I’m not sure I understand the question…. is it about soldering to a very small amount of exposed metal, or about what type of wire to bridge between the old and new connections? I’d go with the same type of wire that’s already being used if that’s the case.

Could you upload a picture?

If your talking about the Coax. cable you could just unscrew the part left on the TV. Then get a new connector (from radio shack or whatever) and crimp it on, or just have a the cable company send someone to replace it. If your talking about the power cable I suggest going to a TV repair shop and having them repair it for you. If you’d rather go the DIY way, you could get a cheap extention cable and solder it on.
