Hey, how do you feel about Lego Mindstorm as an entry into Robotics?

Can you do more for less starting from scratch or is there a lot of functionality in that system?

I personally loved the RCX Mindstorm kit, and the new NXT has some great stuff under the hood (32 bit chip + bluetooth). But if you’re willing to learn how to program chips yourself, you can get a lot more functionality with a lot less cost. But I doubt you’re going to beat out-of-the-box, instant gratification of Lego, Vex etc., especially if you’re just getting started.
