Hello! I just want to ask how to properly measure the actual temperature of a hot air station? I tried to check on websites on the different vendors of hot air stations but none of them satisfies me.
They only say about using a thermometer with a thermocouple and direct the tip of the hot air into the thermocouple to check its temperature.
There is no spec on the distance that it needs to have from the thermocouple to the tip of the hot air.
I really would like to know since the hot air is using pressure and heat to vary its temperature. Besides this is the kind of equipment that we are using today.
This is just a guess, but I’d stick the thermocouple center-stream right at the mouth of the nozzle. The hot air tool likely has its own thermocouple somewhere inside that is used to regulate the temp.
Because the heat transfered depends on air speed, air temperature, thermal conductivity of the board, and how far away the nozzle is held, I doubt this factor alone is the most critical factor.
