Do you mean the thread geometry of screws? Flutes are the helix angled cuts in drill bits and taps that allow material to escape.

Thank you for your answer. No. Please have a look on the picture below. This is a special screw ( bone screw) but it works like any other screw.Some terms confusing me are:
cutting edge or lip
cutting face
primary relief surface
relief angle

i think, its a self tapping screw, used for Light jobs,’ can be used on wood, Plastic etc

For definitions of the terms (cutting edge or lip, cutting face, primary relief surface, relief angle), these sites seem to have some decent pics and info.
