What assortment of modules would you like in the next VoS?
by recompas (admin) May 15 2008

So I am currently prototyping the next Voice of Saturn module, the Modulator. I have several modules I could incorporate into it, but can’t fit them all. I’d like to get some opinions.

First, it is definitely going to have a voltage controllable, resonant, low pass filter. Here are the other modules that I could incorporate into the design:

LFO – Sine wave control signal, with switchable hi and lo frequency

Voltage controlled amplifier – built around the THAT blackmer VCA. super nice

Attack – Release generator – could work well with the VCA or VCF

passive ring modulator with output preamp – true ring modulation using audio transformers and a nice diode rectifier ring

simple 4 input 1 output mixer

noise source

I’d love to fit these all into one, but I like the form factor we have thus far for the VoS modules and also like keeping the kits small and cheap. These will all eventually come out. I’m leaning towards:

VCF, AR Generator, VCA, LFO

then the 4th VoS module having the mixer, ring modulator, and noise source

Any thoughts? Please post a reply.

Sounds great to me! How about some dedicated multiples?

We’ve got bare-bones of both (6/20) in stock, all flavors of the everything kit, and are on about a week lead time for everything_kit and fully_assembled sequencers. we’re working on a larger production run right now, and should have stock that can ship next day for all flavors in about 2 weeks. we’ll keep the lead-times updated on the kit pages themselves.
